There is no doubt that technology is a major part of our every day life. One of our goals as parents is to raise well rounded children both competent in technology, love for nature and a sense of wonder for the world around them

One night we were looking for something to do as a family. Our kids range from ages 3-15 so trying to find an activity that everyone would love isn't an easy feat! We go to movies regularly, done bowling and jump zones and well... all the things. We were looking for something new and that's where this idea came about!
Here are some of our favourite family friendly activities:
1. Chopped kids edition at home!

Grab some friends, a budget and some adult supervision and have a friendly cooking competition, for older kids have a mandatory ingredient they have to use! We did a dessert edition and gave a 15$ budget, the kids had a total blast and we loved testing out their creations!

2. Sunset photo challenge

Grab a camera or a iphone and go capture your local sunset! Throw rocks in the water, get out into nature and maybe even turn it into a friendly competition.
3. Random acts of kindness
Divide into groups and everyone has a budget, an idea and a time limit, you can buy flowers to hand out, balloons, starbucks cards....anything you can think of!
4. Kindness rocks
How fun would it be to find a beautiful rock with an empowering message as you were out for a walk? Collect some medium size oval smooth rocks. Bring them home and paint them some bright happy colors. After they dry, paint on some empowering messages and then place the rocks around your neighborhood, local park or beach for others to find!
5. At home paint night
Since you have those gorgeous sunset photos print them off at your local store and paint these up! Buy some canvas from the dollarstore and if you need paint and brushes they have em too! Put on some music and away you go!
6. Science
When we grabbed a jumbo box of Baking Soda, a 1L of canola oil and a big jug of Vinegar we had no idea how much fun would ensue! Throw in some food colouring and you have yourself a party! The sky is the limit when it comes to science games and all the kids loved getting creative with experiments, and documenting the results!
7. Games night
We are on a Catan kick!! So much so we brought it to Phoenix for nightly family game night! If you haven't played you need to buy it and try it! We regularly play for hours on end, it's a fun family game that the adults get into to! Sometimes we love to bring our board games to starbucks for a change of scenery too!
8. Minute to win it games
We love to do minute to win it games on new years so why not do them more than once a year? Some of our favourites are: Kleenex box pull out, leap frogs from the dollarstore, water challenges, how many dice can you stack on a popsicle stick etc..
9. Collecting sea glass + garden stones
We love spending time at the beach and collecting shells, sea glass and cool rocks. Why not spend a bit of time with a pail and each person collecting some and take them home to make garden stones out of cement. Michael's has a kit you can buy to make the cement process easier!

10. Forest Scavenger hunt
This is a fan favourite, print off all the materials in nature they have to find and go on a hunt in the forest! The kids loved finding all the things and even gluing them onto paper afterwards! You can easily increase the level of difficulty for your older kiddos!

We hope you enjoy these as much as we do and that your Spring Break is filled with amazing memories and lots of fun!
AND of course loads of Coffee and Sunshine too!
